Assignment

  1. Weave Silk

  2. I found weave silk about 4 years ago in high school, it was decently popular back then, and you'd see people on it during class to waste time and such. There was even a culture on places like reddit who created amazing things on the site that I'm sure the developers never quite imagined were possible. That's why I love this site; it's a tool, as much an art piece, that takes on a life of its own and can entertain and be enjoyed by anyone.

  3. Mammoth Trails

  4. So this site is nothing special aesthetically, but it is easy to navigate and an indespensible resource while I'm in mammoth. A site like this is significant, however. The map and hiking book is now one more thing that has become software and all for the better. Using this website makes me crave this to be an addon overlay on my smartphone, but it is only a government website so I'll take what I can get.

  5. The Onion

  6. The onion is so important, as all political satire. Yet just as any news site it's at the will of advertisements and sponsored content to make money, although it is purposefully self aware of this and tries to retain the distinct feel and humor in the sponsored content. The layout of the site is purposefully culttered as the hide little inside jokes as their motto "TU STULTUS ES" (you are a fool).

  7. Rainy Mood

  8. Rainy mood represents something I really like about the internet. You can tell it came about from someone going "hey this would be cool," and it turned into a site with hundreads of thousands of annual users with a revenue stream and a daily updated song of the day. It was a simple concept that turned into a website that turned into an app

  9. Keaton Henson

  10. Keaton Henson is one of my favorite musicians and in turn one of my favorite artists. He has such a personality and aestethic that just bleeds through all of his work. I enjoy the whole website, but the "intrude" portion which features a digitized diary of his is my favorite because if features song lyrics and other phrases that give you a glimps into his personality and life. I think it's that attribute that makes him such a powerful personality and makes his site and its contents so interesting to me.
